CASE STUDIES
Strengthening Grant Readiness – Behavioral/Mental Health
-
Client: Community Counseling Center, Harrisonburg, Virginia
Despite its strong commitment to client-centered care, CCC lacked evaluation tools, testimonials, and marketing capacity to convey the transformative impact of its work to grant funders. Without a clear value proposition, the organization struggled to secure sustainable funding.
-
We partnered with CCC’s leadership to strengthen grant readiness by identifying these tactics: developing SMART outcomes and reporting tools, gathering testimonials and impact data, and aligning measurable results with funder goals. CCC will leverage partnerships with intentional Letters of Support, raise awareness for a fundraising plan that demonstrates evidence of funding support and financial sustainability beyond grant periods.
-
We delivered a customized Grant Decision Matrix to guide strategic, high-ROI applications, along with a curated spreadsheet of local and regional funding opportunities. Our team provided templates for Letters of Support and Grant Narratives with SMART goals and financial details, plus clear messaging to communicate how mental health services address urgent community needs and create measurable impact.
“The real value is in the clinical work, and you captured that very well.” – Brian M.
Securing Funding for
Affordable Housing
-
Client: Central Valley Habitat for Humanity
Each year, two-thirds of older adults discharged from hospitals struggle with daily activities and cannot care for themselves at home. Without a safe discharge plan, patients must remain hospitalized, leading to bed shortages and delayed care for others. These extended stays also harm patients’ emotional and mental recovery. Since environmental factors like housing account for nearly 80% of health outcomes, improving home safety is essential to helping senior homeowners recover and age in place.
-
We used evidence-based data to develop SMART objectives and measurable outcomes that aligned with the funder’s goals. Our strategy highlighted the program’s impact on reducing hospital readmissions and improving senior health. The application connected the project to broader community priorities: promoting safe, affordable housing and supporting aging in place.
-
Client was awarded a six-figure grant in partnership with a regional health provider to support aging adults through home-based interventions that enhance their health and functionality in their homes.
Workplace Development – Addressing the Nurse Shortage in Virginia
-
Client: Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community/VMRC Foundation
Virginia ranks among the top states nationally in projected need for nurses with 5,560 new nurses required by 2030. The Central Shenandoah Valley faces an aging nurse workforce and financial barriers which make it difficult for aspiring medical professionals to advance. The VMRC Foundation established a Nurse Scholarship Program to fund 20 nurse scholarships over five years for students in the region.
-
After exceeding its scholarship fundraising goals through private donors, the Foundation needed a clear communications strategy to attract strong internal and external applicants. IMPACT Grant Writing LLC partnered with Foundation staff, clinical leaders, Human Resources, and Corporate Marketing to develop and launch targeted resources that supported education, recruitment, and the application process—ensuring the Nurse Scholarship Program reached the right candidates, maximizing the potential applicant pool.
-
As a result of Program rollout and education, application awareness, and supervisor-led engagement, VMRC attained the following results:
1,143 views to Scholarship web page
563 active users
3,337 interactions
43 Scholarship applicants
